Custom Mylar Stencils — Laser-Cut, Reusable and Made to Order
Mylar is our most popular stencil material for a reason. It’s tough 14 mil polyester plastic that holds a clean laser-cut edge, wipes clean after every job, and keeps going long after a paper or cardboard stencil would have fallen apart.
Type what it needs to say, pick your font and letter height, and we’ll cut it in Belleville, Illinois and ship it to you ready to use.

Why Choose Mylar for Your Stencils
Reusable — job after job
Mylar doesn’t absorb paint or soak up moisture. Wipe it down after spraying or rolling and it’s ready for the next job. That’s the difference between a stencil you buy once and one you keep reordering.
Clean, sharp edges
We laser-cut every mylar stencil. Edges come out crisp, small letters stay readable, and every character’s bridges hold their shape. No torn corners, no fuzzy lines.
Flexible enough for curves
Mylar bends to fit curved surfaces 4 inches in diameter and up: pipes, drums, tanks, columns. A rigid stencil can’t wrap that.
Durable at 14 mil
Our standard mylar is 14 mil thick: stiff enough to lay flat and stay put, thin enough to give you a clean paint line. It handles boxes, crates, concrete, walls, signs and turf.

When not to use mylar: sandblasting, very heavy paints, or high heat. For parking lots and roads, our 1/10″ plastic lasts longer — see parking lot stencils. The full breakdown is in our stencil materials guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a mylar stencil? A mylar stencil is cut from polyester plastic sheeting instead of paper or cardboard. It’s flexible, doesn’t absorb paint, and can be cleaned and reused many times.
How thick are your mylar stencils? Our standard mylar is 14 mil, thick enough to lay flat and last, thin enough for a sharp paint line.
Are mylar stencils reusable? Yes. That’s the main reason to choose mylar. Wipe off wet paint with water or the appropriate solvent, let it dry flat, and it’s ready for the next job.
What paint works with mylar stencils? Spray paint, stencil ink, latex and acrylic all work well. Avoid very heavy paints and anything applied with high heat.
How big can a mylar stencil be? Text stencils run 1/4″ to 12″ letter height in the online designer. For larger letters, request a quote or call 618.277.5077.
Can I get sequential numbers? Yes. Add a text counter in the designer and we’ll cut a numbered run, which is handy for crates, racks, parking spaces and equipment IDs.
How do I clean a mylar stencil? Clean it right after use, before the paint cures. Use water for water-based paint and mineral spirits for oil-based paint, then lay it flat to dry. Store it flat so it doesn’t curl.
Is there a minimum order? Yes, $30. Orders under $30 are adjusted up to the minimum.
